April 29, 2011. Tell Governor Scott and Senate President Haridopolos no more corporate tax breaks at the expense of Florida’s working families!
After Monday, May 2 the budget process will be nearing its end. Make sure Senate President Haridopolos knows that his plan to balance the budget on the backs of working families to pay for Rick Scott’s corporate tax breaks is WRONG.
Even though
· Florida’s corporate income tax rate is 39th highest in the nation
· The Tax Foundation ranks Florida 5th in Business Tax Climate
· Most large out of state corporations – like Wal-Mart—pay no corporate income taxes in Florida
Governor Rick Scott is demanding tax breaks for wealthy corporations!
AND Senate President Mike Haridopolos is trying to help Gov. Scott keep his campaign promise of corporate tax breaks – despite huge funding cuts to our public schools and to programs which help protect our most vulnerable families.
Our school budget it being funded by a new state mandated employee contribution to the Florida Retirement System of at least 3%.
There is no doubt about it: this is a tax to balance the state budget on the backs of teachers, ESPs, police, and fire fighters, and other public employees.
Please call 888-640-1338 and tell Senate President Haridopolos that Florida’s families, public schools and students can’t afford Rick Scott’s irrational corporate handouts.
